Last night a driver hit us head on as he drove the wrong way. I think our car is totaled couldn’t happen at a worst time as I am moving today. We have no car now and have to pull all kinds of favors to get a car to go pick up my uhaul.

I am the white 2012 civic.

If nothing critical is bent ahead of the A pillar, it looks fixable, at least from the photo. Other guy drunk?

And what a shitty time for it to happen .... His insurance should rent you a car.

His license seems to be a measure of his BAC. Glad you’re okay.

Looks like the fender/hood/a-pillar aren’t matching up any more, so there is likely subframe damage and it’s probably totaled. If not, there could be massive damage to the bumper frame supports which might not total a car this new but it’ll certainly take forever to get fixed. These sorts of accidents are deceptive on newer cars that are designed with super fragile crumple zones.

Glad you’re okay! If you were nearby (which you aren’t based on the NY plates) I’d help you move, really is unfortunate timing.

If it’s any consolation, the car doesn’t look totaled from the pictures, looks like bumper/fender/grille/headlight and hood. If nothing hit that wheel, and no [important] fluids have puked out, may even still be drivable as it is until you can get it fixed.

Edit: Just noticed the airbags, scratch the drivable part.

Possibly you should ignore the GPS if it guides you into oncoming traffic ....

Jeez! Glad you and yours are ok, though.

I know it might be difficult to, but try to take it easy on yourself with the moving. Car accidents have a tendency of making strange muscles sore and hurt that you don’t realize until a couple of days after the fact.

I was in a much more minor accident once — just busted the front fender and cracked the radiator, no airbags deployed, but my neck and shoulders and upper back were sore for a week or so afterwards. I can’t imagine having to lift heavy objects a day after an accident.

I wish I were closer, too. I’d be glad to help. Anyway, again, glad you’re ok.

GPS is kind of like a pace note - it gives you a good idea of what’s coming up ahead but you still gotta use your fucking eyes to make sure it’s the right call.

Anyways, the most important thing is that you’re alright. I’d much rather read about how your car needs to be fixed rather than you needing to be fixed.

You were lucky to get out of this relatively unscathed. You might have a miserable time over the next couple of weeks getting it all sorted out, just remind yourself that a car can be replaced but a life cannot.

That’s rough. I remember on our old 05 Suzuki Aerio (the first car my parents bought new) my dad totaled it the week after he paid it off. Idiots are the reason we can’t have nice things.

Sue sue sue. WTF were they thinking? I know exactly where you were because my boy lives around there by Crotona park. What did they say to you when you got out the car??

Kinja'd!!!

On that street, under the train, their car is supposed to be where the red arrow is. The GPS told them stay left UNDER the train, it’s actually really obvious where they are supposed to be which is here where the white van is here on google maps:

Kinja'd!!!

Fuckin cocksucker. hope you and your girl are good.

Exactly. When he got out the car he was with a girl and before he turn to us he screamed something at her my theory is that they were arguing and got distracted.

I was thinking what in the hell is a 22nd degree burn? Figured it was the equivalent to being liquefied in a cauldron of molten steel or something.
